Assessment at KS3: Challenges and Opportunities

Hello Colleague

It’s important to know how our students are progressing, we also have to recognise the boundaries of assessment—there are no quick fixes!

Understanding student progress is vital for several reasons:

  • Ensuring that students engage with the Key Stage 3 curriculum

  • identifying any gaps in their curriculum exposure and learning

  • Providing insights to leaders, governors, and trustees

  • Celebrating what students have achieved

Join me for two sessions to unpack the challenges and opportunities:

Session 1 - Thursday 6th February 4-5pm - register your interest here

We’ll be considering the:

  • paradoxes of assessment

  • differences between external and internal data

  • limitations of spreadsheet data

  • roles of formative and summative assessments

  • fact that we are pretty good at making judgements

Session 2 - Wednesday 12th February 4-5pm - register your interest here

We’ll be considering:

  • various methods to assess if students have learned the curriculum and made progress and how to capture the information without it being cumbersome.

Both sessions will be live and recorded.

If you’d like to join the webinars and access the recordings, they are part of the annual subscription to Myatt & Co. If you or your school don’t already have an annual subscription, it’s easy to sign up and you get access to the popular subject networks, and ongoing professional development. £150 w/ 7 day free trial.

Hope to see you then.
