Myatt & Co weekly update

Tuesday 4th June

Hello colleague,

We hope you're enjoying your Myatt & Co subscription. We've handpicked some video content for you, which we hope you find helpful:

One of the helpful short films from the history knowledge bites collection from Glenn Carter covers the KS2 National Curriculum objective on the struggle of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings for the control of Britain until 1066. It looks at the relationships between the two groups and the impact of their struggle on Britain. Watch here.

Matt King talks about his science department's efforts to promote diversity and inclusion. He shares his thoughts on developing a model scheme of work for science that integrates references to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Matt stresses the importance of adding more examples into the curriculum and the challenge of time constraints, particularly in subjects like science, which are still largely taught in a modular format. You can watch the conversation here.

James Hawkins, assistant head at Selly Oak special school explains how his school develops their subject 'Learning Journeys' and 'Curriculum Overviews'. He shows how they have sequenced their curriculum to maximise learning, build character and develop skills in a broad range of subject areas. Watch here.
