Tuesday 23rd April

Hello colleague,

We hope you're enjoying your Myatt & Co subscription. We've handpicked some video content for you, which we hope you find helpful:

George White emphasises the importance of religious education in promoting understanding and respect for diverse cultures and religions. He also discusses the need for actively listening to the whole school community, seeking to understand the collective and individual experiences within school.

George talks with Rachel Higginson about the importance of curating an inclusive school environment, involving people from different faiths and backgrounds, and using storytelling to foster empathy and understanding. Watch the session here.

Liam Walker talks with Steve Willshaw about the big ideas behind the RE curriculum in his school, the thinking that went into deciding on these and the processes that he lead his department through to enable these ideas to become manifest in the department’s curriculum.

Joanne Harris then distinguishes between the key disciplines that are part of RE (philosophy, theology, social sciences) and big ideas. She explains the different big ideas that underpin her school’s curriculum and the importance of the RE curriculum having a conversation about these topics and the importance of there being diversity of approaches to meet local needs. Watch the recording here.

Jill Berry talks with Amy Edmondson about how there are times when getting things wrong might be a good thing! Watch here.
